DiDo#41: Discovery sprints – embrace the unknown

dido41

“Our team is always rushing to build and release something. There is little time to stop and think about what you are actually building”. Sounds familiar?

As humans, we are excellent at making assumptions. Especially about things we don’t know. Because we know our customers well, we know what’s good for the business, right? The sooner these assumption-based solutions are built, the sooner we can reap the benefits.

The risk here is that if you take too little time in developing your idea, you will have wasted valuable time if it turns out not to work so well after all. Developing discovery sprints and integrating them with your delivery sprints helps to only build validated ideas. It helps to break the never-ending building cycle. And it helps to get more people to feel responsible for the actual tasks that they do.

The power is to integrate discovery sprints in your delivery sprints. So the feedback loop is continuous. But how do you start? What is the process behind this? These are topics that we will discuss in our 41st DiDo. We have three amazing companies (Maxeda, Fonq and Vattenfall) to tell their story of how they are tackling this immense process.
