Experimentation and a culture of failure: Are you willing to be confronted with your mistakes?

On Thursday Oct. 1 from 3:30 to 5 p.m. we are hosting a free digital psychology meetup!

Organizations where decisions are made based on experimentation grow faster, are more innovative and adapt more easily to new circumstances. Yet in practice, it still proves quite difficult to create a ‘experimentation culture’ to adopt.

A key reason for this: we find it hard to accept failure. To better understand this, our psychology team is hosting a digital meetup with the theme “Failure and Radiance.” In the meetup, speakers share their academic and practical expertise on the topic and we exchange experiences about what makes failure and learning difficult. Together we will explore what we and our organizations can do to learn to fail better.

As a scientist, Fieke knows a lot about conflict management and about research that goes ‘wrong. Through her acting experience, she knows how within improvisational theater failure is embraced and trained. From these perspectives, she explains what it takes to deal well with ’failure‘ and how to reap the benefits of it.
  • Floris ten Berge (VodafoneZiggo) is chapter lead CRO & analytics and has been involved in building a culture of experimentation since 2016. This year, his organization's CRO program was nominated for a Experimentation Culture Award.
